2023 Review and 2024 Update
Strengthening Communities
As part of our ongoing commitment to social impact in Siem Reap, Cambodia, AO.CO has continued to expand and enrich our community-focused initiatives throughout 2023. We proudly launched several new programs, including collaborations with a local youth center that began in September 2023. These initiatives are designed to further empower women, children, and at-risk youths in the region.
Sewing Livelihood Program
Our Sewing Livelihood Program continues to make a significant impact by teaching essential sewing skills to mothers and teenagers in our community. This program not only empowers participants with valuable vocational skills but also provides a source of income that can be used to support their children’s education and improve their quality of life.
English Evening Classes
In September 2023, we began collaborating with a local youth center to offer evening English classes targeted at at-risk youths. This program is designed to enhance participants’ spoken English proficiency, equipping them with a critical skill that provides a long-term competitive edge in education and employment opportunities.
Guitar Music Lessons
We expanded our programs to include guitar-focused music lessons for the youth in our community. Currently in its startup phase, the guitar classes are small but growing. These classes provide a creative outlet and an opportunity for self-expression while teaching discipline and patience. Through learning music, participants develop their skills and discover new passions, contributing to their overall personal development.
Football Outreach
Recognizing the importance of sports in community building and youth development, we initiated a Football Outreach program in 2023, engaging about 40-50 youths. This program is designed to engage at-risk youths in constructive and healthy activities, reducing the risks of gang involvement. Through football, participants are developing their proficiency in the sport while also learning critical life skills such as sportsmanship and teamwork.
Outreach to Poor Village Communities
Our outreach efforts have extended to some of the poorest village communities in Siem Reap, where we are dedicated to offering support and opportunities through our various programs. Whether it’s through education, vocational training, or sports, we are committed to making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most.
Financial Support for Orphans
In addition to our various programs, AO.CO provides crucial financial support to orphans in need. We assist with their food, education, and other essential necessities, ensuring that these children have the resources they need to thrive. This support helps to address their immediate needs and contribute to their long-term well-being and development.
Looking Ahead
As we move into the future, AO.CO remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering positive change in Cambodia. We are eager to build upon the successes of 2023 by expanding our existing programs and exploring new opportunities to further support and uplift our communities.
